Do you think what the media says is 'beauty' is affecting the minds young and adolescent girls, in particular?

i'm doing an Internet survey on a topic for psychology and i want to see what you people think. this is a study please be serious.

give me reasons why you think this is so, give examples, and then tell me your gender an age so i can see if there is a consistancy. if you are in fact a girl, and you agree, does the media affect YOUR definition of beauty, and how so?

Thank you so muchDo you think what the media says is 'beauty' is affecting the minds young and adolescent girls, in particular?
it is!Do you think what the media says is 'beauty' is affecting the minds young and adolescent girls, in particular?
I am a 22 year old female. I definitely think the media is affecting the minds of young girls. I think the stick-thin models we see are one reason there are so many eating disorders among teens. Girls want to look like what they see on TV or in magazines, and they are missing their own beauty. I think beauty can come from many sizes, shapes, and colors, but you must have confidence in yourself to be beautiful. Sadly, a lot of young girls don't want to be themselves these days
Yes, just open a magazine or pay attention to the commercials on TV and you'll see that most of the women considered attractive are either white or are of a mixed race and have white-like features. It's not as bad as it used to be, say 30 years ago. We are beginning to see some diversity in this aspect. Tyra Banks has talked about it on her show, and I think as time goes on we'll continue to see change but it's a very slow process. We have to remember the media is controlled by white men so they have the say so as to what is beautiful and what isn't. We can only hope that each generation becomes tolerant of each other and this won't be an issue 100 years from now. 39 year old black male, San Antonio, TX. Good luck with your paper.
