Anybody work as a beauty consultant at a dept. store?

I currently work at Ulta as a beauty consultant and I absolutely hate the company. I love working with makeup, etc. I'm contemplating on Dillards, Macy's or Belk. Any feedback or suggestions would be great. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!Anybody work as a beauty consultant at a dept. store?
Just leave and get another job in another Beauty Comp.

I believe if you have a passion in what you do, you're gonna get a better job with a better company.

Good luck!Anybody work as a beauty consultant at a dept. store?
You could become a Mary Kay consultant and own your own business. Mary Kay is the #1 brand of skin care and color cosmetics and you make 1/2 of everything you sell. It's very flexible so you pick the hours you work rather than working hours that someone else picks for you. Very low start up costs, there are no territories, no quotas. We offer free training. No pressure to do more than you want out of your business.

And yeah, they ship internationally on their site.Where can I buy Beauty From The Earth cosmetics in the UK please?
Normally I would suggest eBay but I did a search and nothing came up, if it is a US product then you can search on the ebay.com site and ask the seller if they will post to you in the UK.

Failing that search on google for sales in the UK.
www.beautyfromtheearth.com

They sell online only and ship international.
I've done loads of searches just now, but i can't find any in the UK.

im sure you can get eyeshadow like that, from barry m cosmetics.
The official website beautyfromtheearth.com ships internationally. They aren't actually in stores anywhere in the world, just an online brand. Hope this helps :)

Why do people hate beauty pageants so much? It is never the beautiful people that hate them ugly people do?

it is always moms who dont know and ugly people is it that the male population that hype up ';queens'; and make their wives jelous during the miss america swimsuit competition and they automatically hate us or what? Why do people hate beauty pageants so much? It is never the beautiful people that hate them ugly people do?
I think a lot of people dislike beauty pageants for their own individaul reasons. It is a misconception that beauty queens are only pretty and do not have a single brain cell in their heads. Any lefitimate pageant system out there requires girls to submit academic records. Most pageants also require girls to participate actively in community service organizations. I have won many pageant titles in the past year. I am 14 and also a published model. Pageants have helped me learn to speak on stage and be poised in formal wear and swimwear in front of thousands of people. I have also won scholarships to help pay for my college education. I do know girls personally though, that are snobs and think they are better than others just because they own a few crowns. I stronly feel that beauty comes from the inside. When you are confident, it shows. There is a difference between confidence and egotism. Why do people hate beauty pageants so much? It is never the beautiful people that hate them ugly people do?
Because most of them are stuck up idiots. Look at Miss South Carolina. Report Abuse

All people have different reasons. I wouldn't say that I hate pageants. I don't think that little girls should wear makeup or swim suits in them. Somethings should be saved for the adult pageants. Teaching your daughter that her looks are everything is shallow. What about all the values you instill in her and the rest of her life experiences? Are they not as important as her looks?
hmm I am not sure about all of this that your asking because I have never hated beauty queens no one in my family hates them either so I guess I dont know any haters towards yall.. is it one person that you met that hates you or have you ran into this alot? Im just curious:)
no..lol there not jealous

they think its lame and has no point.

oh yah lets award someone for being pretty? yeah ok..lol

but they dont hate you either..
Beauty pageants are simply despicable events. They should be called pornographic pageants because it's only about a bunch of young women sashaying around in their bikinis and other revealing clothing. It's quite superficial and it is basically just a waste of time.
What?

Are you saying only ugly people hate pageants?

Lmao. Yeah, and I'm guessing you, a pageant 'lover' are just soo beautiful? Hahaha... okay then.

I hate pageants and so does every girl I know... and I'm sorry but I highly doubt you are any more beautiful then my mother or sister or friends. In fact, I doubt you are even comparable to my mother. And your photo only supports that thought.

Get over yourself sweetheart, it is not truly beautiful people who love pageants, but only the 'fake' people who love pageants. A truly beautiful woman doesn't need to wear 10 lbs of makeup and spend 2 hours on her hair in order for her to look presentable.
That all depends on your opinion of ugly. Maybe those women are not pretty to your standards, because they think your standards of pretty is shallow , and degrading toward women. These women are probably more beautiful inside than you may ever become. Their views on beauty are not skewed by the media the way yours are.
Wow...are you one of them? And by saying them I mean rude, selfish individuals who do nothing but showcase their over-beauty?

Anyway, beauty pageants should be allowed -- only with no cameras, no people, and no girls who do not know how to speak english properly.

Like, oh my god, that wouldn't like, be a pageant at all then!
You seem to have a lot of excess time on your hands.

  • Why does the USA society see breast augmentation as a beauty enhancer; but a tattoo as low class?

I am from an African nation. Why does the USA society see breast augmentation as a beauty enhancer; but a tattoo as low class?
Since you are from an African nation, we could be looking at a sociological pretext for an argument. I have read that many African nations have had female tattoos for a couple thousand years. However, South Africa is one of the few places in Africa that does breasts augmentations. They do some in Iran; however, it is kept hush hush. As for the tattoo, the women in Iran need to abide by the Qu'ran and honor their husbands.

My wife is Chinese and she has two tattoos that are charming, even though I have Evangelical beliefs. The women in China are starting to have breasts augmentations like in the west.

The sociological reasoning for the thought of tattoos being low class comes from the Baptist who misinterpret the scriptures and claim God does not like it. Also, the Red-neck girls think a tattoo is fitting in a criteria of a certain culture.

But times are changing, even though change is slow. I heard a TV minister call a tattoo an abomination in the sight of Almighty God. However, I have never read that in the King James version of the Christian Bible. I don't think God talked to the preacher either. The reason I believe there is a taboo on tattoos is the way Jews were tattooed during World War II.

As for me, I think a butterfly tattoo above a breast is beautiful and sensual. If the woman desires larger breasts to match the beauty of the tattoo, she should go for it. It is actually more acceptable that you might perceive. What was good for the Africans for a couple thousand years, should be acceptable for the USA. What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. Why does the USA society see breast augmentation as a beauty enhancer; but a tattoo as low class?
I'm tempted to say there's not much fun kissing a tattoo but no ... I won't. Not sure if the whole of the USA sees it that way? Both forms of decoration have their risks. Tatts are fine when you're a kid but become a liability as you age. Breast augmentation might be the same. I reckon all breasts are nice to look at as well as giving life and strength to babies. Maybe this is a bit of a tit for tat argument.

Why is having a widow's peak a sign of beauty?

I know there aren't really ';signs'; but what are some other ones? The only other one i can think of is having a long, swan-like neck. Why is having a widow's peak a sign of beauty?
never heard of that, but i guess because it's a recessive trait so there's more people without it than with it...i have one and sometimes i don't like to have it seen, but it does give me the upper hand on doing a part down the center of my headWhy is having a widow's peak a sign of beauty?
    Actually, that's news to me.
a large fore head..far apart eyes.. and pretty toes
Because not everyone has one. I do. :)
it is wierd but there isnt anything wrong like i have alot of hair on my face for a fiffteen year old but a girl wouldnt dump me for it (unless i never shave it off and look like a christmas tree or unless she is wierder than me)

What are your biggest beauty indulgence? (- -,)?

I go for hot oil treatments at least thrice a month. I love protein treatments in particular %26amp; hair conditioner. I dig hair spa %26amp; for make up is my collections of Dior Addict lipsticks. Then have my weekly manicure %26amp; pedicure and lastly, body massage at spa!

How about you? (- -,)What are your biggest beauty indulgence? (- -,)?
i'm on a budget so can't afford all those things, i wish i could get a massage weekly, monthly or even yearly, but I can't, my indulgence is chapstick and I use extra virgin olive oil, heat it for 30 seconds in the microwave, put it in my hair for 30 minutes than wash out, it works like hot oil treatments but it is free for me, since I use the olive oil for cooking anywayWhat are your biggest beauty indulgence? (- -,)?
Mmy biggest beauty indulgence is...sleep...it's costly and hard to come by these days...
    Shaving my butt.
getting my nails done and going tanning. I always wear expensive makeup, b/c I find it stays on longer and makes my skin not breakout. No drug store makeup for me. I go to the spa when I have extra cash.
    lipglosses mainly

i love NARS, Chanel, and Dior ones, i have so many of each brand!
i get a by-weekly mani, and i love mascara i by all the new kinds i have a make up bag full of tubs that are bran new!!!!
    http://ngupta.qbeautyzone.com/
you shouldnt pay for hot oil treatments at the salon that is b/s you can do the exact same thing at home for nothing with the same benefits.

i indulge in good hair cuts, face and body cream, make up that goes on my skin...like blush, powder, foundation, eye shadow. shoes, clothes(depending what i need), mani- pedi's. and of course undergarments. Freash vegetables to keep everything looking healthy.

only the most important stuff. Great question it should be ';featured';. Eventhough i don't need to really... i know where to cut corner's...their is no sense in wasting money.
    Toilet paper
Yes, I went to a massage parlor and they did a very good job on massaging my body.

Well, I don't know about beauty indulgence, but if you want to have a flawless skin then I suggest drink a lot of water, eat lots of veggies, avoid smoking %26amp; drinking coffee, do exercise regularly, adequate sleep %26amp; avoid stress.
    have a boy freind

Beast by Donna Jo Napoli. Also if you like fairytale retellings some good ones are Mira, Mirror by Mette Ivie Harrison (snow white from the Mirror's point of view) and Briar Rose by Jane Yolen (sleeping beauty with some Holocaust themes).

I use Aveda and it's a great product. Plus has a good , sexy organic smell. What Organic Shampoos and beauty products have you used?Which would you recommend?
I really like Arbonne products overall.

For deodorant, I use Desert Essence. If you have a Vitamin Shoppe near you, I believe you may be able to find it there. It works just as well as a regular deodorant/antiperspirant, but without the aluminum products.
    Aveda
I use Jason brand sunblock for my kids. It's pretty inexpensive - that's a relative term - inexpensive for organic products, around $10 a tube - and it had a great smell so I got to put it on my son without a fight. Henry's carries it.

I love Desert Essence products too - I used the tea tree oil to clear up acne and scratches I use tea tree oil shampoo - smells unbelievable, very clean feeling and refreshing.
    BED HEAD products work really

good, same as Dove, and Sunsilk.

I would suggest having a free makeover done at your local department store cosmetic counter, or even Merle Norman. In my area, Merle Norman does all the pageant makeup for all the contestants, and they work with each one beforehand...really very cool. One thing I will say is that pageant makeup is much like stage makeup because the lights are so strong. You need more opaque products and slightly heavier application...but don't neglect to blend, blend, blend well! How would you define beauty and truth?

Thank you for submitting something beyond [eye of the beholder] and [religion X].How would you define beauty and truth?
beauty = truthHow would you define beauty and truth?
I don't think there are any single, universal definitions for concepts that subjective or abstract.

From a purely pragmatic point of view ';beauty'; would be the quality of possessing whatever criteria made something pleasing to the senses, like a beautiful woman or sunset, or the intellect, like a beautiful poem or mathematical theorem. Since those criteria vary greatly from individual to individual what is considered beautiful would as well, but the definition would be the same.

Applying the same pragmatic viewpoint to ';truth'; it would whatever is in accordance with the facts insofar as they can be determined and demonstrated within the limits of our current levels of scientific understanding and technological sophistication. Attempts at constructing more universal and constant definitions always seem to fall down in practice over time because the situations within which they developed changed and societies built on them did not.
Beauty is holiness. Truth is a Person - the holiest of Persons. Start with the spiritual origins of beauty and truth, then you can apply it to physical things. Not everyone is attracted to beauty and truth, by the way. A lot of people shrink from both because they are exposed in the light of them.
beauty is something u can breath, taste, smell, but not actually touch or keep, it brings delight and possibly love or lust to u just by seeing it.

truth is something that we all should be looking for, but avoid because it to painfull to face. TRUTH is harsh but exact, not abstract and sadly out of reach...
We are programed to respond to visual stimulous of things based on phi ratio 1 to .618 which is the golden ratio...small variations in individual make up result in variations of beholder perspective. But u never even thumb me up or down so...LMAO
in my eyes beauty is in symmetry. the most beautiful faces to me are the most symmetrical. Truth however i think is in the eye of the beholder. It is a persons subjective belief of reality.
Beauty is only skin deep and truth is something you use if you do not lie, and to me truth is not believing in the Creation theory that christians lie about all the time .
beauty is what you are attracted to, truth is what you believe. both are subjective.
    Beauty is Symmetry

    Truth is Unity
beauty is all there is, everything else is a lie

Do you really believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder?

Of course it is... what I find beautiful, you may find hideous and ugly. Much of the time, the beholders may have similar tastes, but that doesn't change the fact that they -can- have seperate tastes.Do you really believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
Definitely. Bo Derek was a big deal when I was growing up, and I never saw what the big deal was. At work, many of the guys fall all over themselves trying to impress ';Denise,'; while some of us don't think anything of her, preferring ';Tanya'; instead. Two examples from my life illustrating a point that could occupy many pages.

Try drawing a picture of the ocean with a beautiful sunset or how about a landscape that has lovely trees or flowers? you could also draw a beautiful person, im not sure how else to interpret it. maybe what beauty is to you.

  • What are some natural beauty tips?

Oil Cleansing Method (OCM), washes strip away natural oils which actually causes skin to produce more oil which clogs pores while at the same time dehydrates your skin, where as OCM used daily keeps skin healthy and spot-free, you mix half extra virgin olive oil to moisturize and half castor oil to cleanse, then massage into face, cover with a hot face cloth for a minute to open pores, then wipe off http://www.moogoo.com.au/category13_1.ht鈥?/a>

Dump shampoo! shampoo as it is nothing more than perfumed detergent to clean dirt out of hair, but it's very harsh and strips natural oils that make your hair shiny, soft and strong, so your hair instead becomes dull, weak and damaged 鈥?thus why you have conditioner to replenish natural oils shampoo strips away. Many shampoos contain harmful ingredients like mineral oil, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate and other ingredients that can cause damage. If you stop using shampoo your hair will be much healthier, stronger, shiny, easier to manage, will grow faster and it won't get greasy as when using shampoo your scalp overcompensates by creating more oils to replace what shampoo stripped away thus causing greasyness. You still wash your hair but instead either use conditioner-only/curly girl method or the no-poo method. I use conditioner-only which is basically using just conditioner to wash your hair with, conditioners contain mild surfactants so clean but without stripping your hair of natural oils as shampoo does, totally amazing results straight away. No-poo is washing with one tablespoon baking soda in a cup of warm water, apply to roots working it in and let sit to clean and stimulate blood flow, then rinse with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to one cup water. Hair will be healthier, stronger, shiny, easier to manage, grows faster and won't get greasy http://babyslime.livejournal.com/174054.鈥?/a> %26amp; http://www.wikihow.com/Follow-the-Curly-鈥?/a>

Don't use anything on your skin that you wouldn't put in your mouth, seriously, many toiletries contain chemicals that aren't good for you, plus it's cheap and fun to make your own. There are loads of books and sites like Make Your Own Cosmetics http://www.makeyourcosmetics.com and Pioneer Thinking http://www.pioneerthinking.com full of simple recipies and useful information, facemasks are especially good.

For puffy eyes keep two teaspoons in a freezer, pop them onto eyes in the morning as the cooling reduces puffyness. Witch hazel gel or hemeroid cream (common model tip) helps too.

Use olive oil as a moisturiser for your body, it's far more effective than body lotion or baby oil, leaves your skin glowing and is known to help prevent aging, plus add a little scented oil and you'll smell lovely all day.

Massage your scalp before washing your hair, this stimulates your scalp keeping hair healthy and improves growth too, use oil such as almond oil with rosemarry which stimulates growth.

Eat a healthy diet (no eating junk or dieting), take mulitvitamins, use sunscreen, get plenty of sleep, drink plenty of water, excersise regularly, de-stress and balance hormones.

Exfoliate, but avoid sharp aprocot kernals which can damage skin, leading to spots. Try cosmetic vinegar or exfoliating sponge, exfoliation also improves effectivness of skin treatments.

Buy vitamin E capsules, take daily to help improve skin and hair, you don't need those overpriced hair %26amp; nail vitamins. You can also break the capsules to add vitamin E to your lotions etc. What are some natural beauty tips?

for long lashes , use vaseline instead of mascara ..

to remove dark circles under ur eyes , get some cotton balls and dip them into cold milk and apply to each eye for 30 seconds ..

use cold water to get rid of puffy face when u first wake up ..

use rose water to close ur face pores .. after doing a mask consisting of yogurt and honey and lemon ..( dont use lemon if ur skin is sensitive ) add some rose water instead or egg white..

    i'll edit for more.. =))
try sheer gloss instead of color, makeup thats barely noticable is more natural, so no bright shades of eyeshadow, lipgloss etc.

For whom? a bloke in his 40's? get to the gym. A woman in her 50's? get a beatician. You haven't really given anyone anything to work with have you? A picture or a discription would help a little don't you think? Good luck.
take vitamins and eat healthy, go outside with a light sunscreen on and get a light tan, for your hair (i know this sounds weird) but you could use an egg mask for shininess... google it.
Eat plenty of fresh foods containing lots of vitamins and minerals.

Nuts and oily fish are great too.

    Drinks loads of water.

    Exercise often...

Thats pretty much it really :)
If you want shiny hair use tea tree oil or hot oil treatment.

For smooth skin keep it clean and add a small amout on honey to it.
    care to elaborate more?
Use honey as a face mask :-)

Is the alcohol in beauty products the same as the drinking alcohol?

Don't drink it you'll go blind....Is the alcohol in beauty products the same as the drinking alcohol?
The alcohol which we drink is actually made up of several kinds of alcohol, but is mostly ethyl alcohol. I would be willing to bet that most makeups, colognes, perfumes, etc. use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). Is the alcohol in beauty products the same as the drinking alcohol?
It is really not worth trying. It could be ethanol but it could also be any number of toxic alcohols.
    i dont know
    Simply NO!
hell no you will die if u injest that

Is the beauty of life a mere coincidence? Doesn't nature's beauty suggest an incredible ';awareness'; of life?

obviously.. this question is for atheists!

and as some of you might find it... surprisingly its by an atheist too!

    thank you...

this question is not about god or creator.. it stands the way it is! just need your explanation.. you might try logic! thanks..Is the beauty of life a mere coincidence? Doesn't nature's beauty suggest an incredible ';awareness'; of life?
Nature is something that we should not take for grantide. Nature speaks to us in many forms and many voices. If only people would learn to listen, then they would have found greater Knowledge with in themselves. From With in. that is where it does begin. Is the beauty of life a mere coincidence? Doesn't nature's beauty suggest an incredible ';awareness'; of life?
The world remains relatively constant and unchanging. Rather it is mans mood, thinking, outlook inspired faddishness or changing awareness that metamorphosis鈥檚 and alightens his world with such beauty, charm and peaceful accord. You are right in this assumption.

When man is peaceful the world becomes beautiful, radiant, awe inspiring and ethereal.

When man is angered or toxic with inner angst the world is drab, dreary and harsh, malevolent and unkind and a veritable hell.

Determining factors of each perspective vary daily, stilling and controlling the mind and imagination for man to gain complete control of his outlook and mind toward the control of the world he surveys each morn...
No it isn't and no it doesn't. There are patterns of symmetry in nature, we are part of nature, our nervous systems and brains have some degree of fractal symmetry and are tuned to recognise symmetry in all the relative chaos of the world.

We beings made of order in chaos recognise order in the chaos of nature and see it as beauty. There is no coincidence involved.
no, because you can see beauty in anything.

it all does come down to your perspective and state of mind, but that is something which really cant be controlled.

so it could be a coincidence, but i feel it is a combination of coincidence and free will
Your question operates on a flawed assumption: Life is beautiful and/or sacred

    Short answer- it's not.

Long answer- Look around, everywhere you see death, decay, poverty, pain, anger, betrayal, loss. Entropy is the only reality; all that is created shall be unmade.
If so, then I would say that chance is the universe's greatest artist.

Have you ever saw beauty fall apart?

I've saw her cast a tear to the wind, and watch it fade away into the dark. There's no hope in the stars no one last wish, no more advice, no more bad tips. I watched the torch with the blue flames up die down to a blank slate. I saw the damage that days take, and I wish it never upon anyone....Have you ever saw beauty fall apart?

that is one excellent piece of writing...it is so true to form it's almost surreal. It is beautiful in itself.

If women are lucky they get to have a turn as privileged young goddesses. For instance: No traffic tickets, (I didn't get one till I was 35!), passed my driving test on the first try even though I hit a curb parallel parking, extra rides on the roller coaster, men stopping you on the street just to tell you how beautiful you are. I must admit, I kind of miss it.
beauty is a deep word to describe a person's appearance.many people mistaken it for the outside looks but to think of it, inner beauty is more powerful

Would you consider American Beauty to be an existentialist film?

We're studying existentialism in school.. and it reminded me of American Beauty. Lester was at first living a failed life, and he was ';unconscious'; in a sense. Then he meets Angela, which helps him regain ';consciousness';. At the end of the movie, Lester discovers that he is truly happy and looks back and appreciates his life. This pattern of unconsciousness to consciousness kind of reminds me of The Stranger by Albert Camus... and I think it's an existentialist idea to appreciate your life even though you're going to die?

So if anyone can discuss their views or enlighten me more about existentialism (it's an interesting philosophy), that would be great! Thanks =]Would you consider American Beauty to be an existentialist film?
Actually, it's post existentialism. It's not only about a possible evasive or contrarian approach to values, it's advocating a ';transvaluation'; by rising above the herd.

It's more Nietzschean than existential, with regards to the protagonist, Lester. His character is supreme with regards to his philosophical stance.

But, the storyline of the homophobe neighbor (Frank) is deconstructive. It removes the traditional value of that belief structure, but puts nothing back in its place of value.

Ricky is a classical existentialist characterization, as he casually evades societal norms. All the while, he inserts something rediculous and makes it seem seem worth while (a piece of garbage blowing in the wind). Beautiful, classical existentialism.

Jane is an encapsulation of what the audience is supposed to be feeling. She directs the audience from a position of tradition to one of discovery as Ricky brilliantly leads her to accept existentialism, and further to reject traditionalism. This transitional sub plot fertilizes the ground for the audience to accept Lester's new found perspective on life, which transcends existentialism.

Notice how Carolyn and the other characters (including Frank) who try to live according to societal norms are in a continual state of struggling with their views on life. It is only when Lester decides to no longer participate in that ';game'; that he begins to find life worth living.. The contrast is beautifully executed and hammers home the point of the author superbly.

The movie is a masterpiece of the most cutting edge philosophical ideas, therefore it goes way beyond mere existentialismWould you consider American Beauty to be an existentialist film?
Very interesting question! and this is one of my favourite films, although my appreciation is not on an analytical level. I just love the central character, the actors, the music, and the 'black' humour of the film.

As for existentialism, I have also studied some of the plays and novels of Camus %26amp; Sartre, and struggled to understand their philosophy (in French studies at university). I can't say I'm any sort of expert (!) but I gather that existentialism grew out of a vehement rejection of French Catholicism, which had a strangle-hold on the French education system.

Camus and others felt that human beings did not need the fear of Hell or the reward of Heaven to give their lives meaning, or to give them a reason to behave morally. They believed that we must struggle with moral problems on our own terms and find our own solutions to them, as well as attributing meaning to our lives according to our own interpretation. Thus we shouldn't rely on religious authority to dictate the meaning of our lives and our actions.

That's the best interpretation I could come up with, anyway. How that relates to ';American Beauty'; I couldn't say, except that Lester appears to be a man who comes to reject the values of the society around him.

Hope this helps! For what it's worth, I find that the pleasure of these intellectual pursuits derives from the act of engaging with the questions, and not from ultimately coming to any particular conclusions.....
    i didn't so it
i think that in deed it is an existentialist movie because Lester goes trough a kind of middle life crisis because not he only learns how to appreciate life but he also learns how to not let anybody push him, he changes his point of view of life so drastically that he gets a year of salary without working

A woman argued that Beauty and the Beast was an evil movie because it encouraged bestiality?

Should I trust this woman around my pet dog?A woman argued that Beauty and the Beast was an evil movie because it encouraged bestiality?
You shouldn't trust anyone who takes Disney movies seriously.A woman argued that Beauty and the Beast was an evil movie because it encouraged bestiality?
Speaking of which, I got to go to Tijuana...
That made me spit my drink out....lol.
No, I wouldn't. Take care of your beloved pooch.
Oh please, they didn't even have sex (while he was a beast), but even when he was a beast, he was still a human. So it doesn't count as bestiality.
That is funny. It sounds like she is against bestiality, so let her play with you doggy.
That depends. Does your dog have the power of speech? Walk around in a magic castle and has magic mirrors and all?
no get her away from you and the dog
    WOO HOO, PUPPIES!!
    Well 'Girl'

Just make sure your dog never sees the movie.

It might agree with that woman!
Well, if she is against bestiality...your dog is safe around her.
why not, she hated the movie right? it is the people who love the movie that you should be leery of
    lol!!!! no i woun't
i would love arguing with her
They never showed any form of intimacy prior to his transformation back into a prince, not even a kiss, so how can it be construed as bestiality.
    lol.....
I don't know what your getting at with the thing about your pet dog but for sure ';A woman'; is not firing on all four spiritual cylinders.
    wow...
I'll bet she thought that Passion of the Christ was a wholesome movie that the whole family should see.
lol it didn't do that. but it did show girls that you could be held against your will. and fall in love with your caper. that is disturbing.
    LOL nice :)
Oh my gosh, the message was not about bestiality at all. The message that they were trying to get across was that you should love someone no matter what they looked like. Belle fell in love with the Prince while he was a beast, while he was ugly and hideous. THAT was the message. What kind of idiot would even take that as encouraging bestiality?!

As far as your dog though..... I think it would be safe because she OBVIOUSLY is against it, so she wouldnt do anything with your dog.
Ask your dog for his opinion on Beauty and the Beast.
Good gods no. Keep your dog far from her. What is the world coming to? Gods.
    lol!

    never though of that
Not if your dog is anthropomorphic.
Haha... did she see the porno version or something?
wow, thats just funny, your friend has issues.
    hahaha...wow.

  • It's said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder ?

Could that extend to include any concept? So, [insert something here] is in the eye of the beholder?

Would that apply to good/evil/right/wrong/injustice as well? Or does it work for some things but not others?

Is something good regardless of how we perceive it? And is something evil even if we don't label it as such? It's said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder ?
No, I don't believe it does apply to any and all concepts. Though I realize some would not agree, I believe there are absolutes in areas such as right and wrong, good and evil. The problem is, sometimes people are not sure of the truth and thus you have what are called gray areas. I don't think that necessarily means it's a gray issue, though perhaps some of those instances could be in areas which are beyond man's comprehension.

However, anything which deals with the tastes of the individual could fit into the concept of it being in the eye of the beholder. My favorite painter, for instance, is Renoir. As long as it is my eye doing the beholding, I'll tell you a Renoir painting is beautiful. I may go further and tell you that ';x'; painted ugly paintings. However, that other artist may appeal to you. It's just a matter of taste.

Because man's emotions often get in the way of logical deduction, it's possible that things and people could be perceived as entirely different than they are. Emotions cloud the issues and sometimes mask the truth.

***Edit: I'm making this more simplistic than it truly is, but to do real justice to the question you would have to delve into a lot of different areas and it would be, perhaps, beyond me. My feeling is that not everything can be relative and depend solely on the beholder.

***Edit2: Both reader and Sophiii took this into other areas than I. Both made good points. My point is, basically, there are certain bedrocks which don't shift depending on the person viewing it. For instance, in an orderly society there are some foundational laws; without them you have chaos. So it is with certain subjects of study like math. There is a right answer and a wrong one, though you may not always know which is which. Like most people, I've experienced the shock of finding an opinion I've held dear to be wrong. My take is that the very fact of seeing the difference means I'm admitting to there being a true right and a very real wrong.

I'm not talking, specifically, about how people are viewed or even politics (ask a liberal and then a conservative about the same contentious issue and you'll get two - often opposite - opinions, each thinking he is absolutely right). No matter what someone like Hitler or Pol Pot thought about their own actions, no matter their interior monologues or intentions, the result of it was an absolute: evil. Some may be uncomfortable with the term ';evil,'; though in such a case as a Hitler being responsible for the deaths of millions upon millions, a lesser word seems too tepid to me.

As far as man goes, there are very few who are either entirely bad or entirely good. Since we can't always cut through all the levels in ourselves and make a true assessment, what makes us think we can judge anyone else fairly? It's far easier to judge actions and results than a person or his motives. I don't know about anyone else, but I sometimes have a hard time understanding why I react to something in a certain way. It's not always easy to analyze yourself, let alone others.

Because we have faulty perceptions, I think it's fair to say a thing could be good though we don't know it or evil even though we don't label it as such.

So, back to your original question: beauty and specific likes and dislikes and tastes are certainly in the eye of the beholder. Not everything fits in that equation, though. It's said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder ?
Its basically about how you look at things. If you look only at the good points in a person rather than the negatives, then you interact more with that person. Even if in a bad situation or if something bad happens to you, instead of feeling miserable about it, if we look at it, in a positive way then things seem better than they actually are.

Because no matter how bad we feel or worry about it, things are not going to change.

It applies to everything - good/evil/right/wrong.
'; A loved one '; is in the very eyes of the beholder.

Funny that when we use this phrase, we are referring to external beauty. Beauty has been abused as a shallow concept.

True beauty is felt by the hearts of people, you heart will feel touched by the presence or words or encouragement or deeds of such people.

External beauty is what your eyes forces you to claim and categorise it as ';beauty';. And true beauty is NOT by force.

Beauty is of love and virtue.

You will learn that things are evil, when they do not make our hearts feel good or better. This is evident from when you receive genuine kind advice from loving people as compared to sapping advice from low souls (dark and depressed or abusive people).

Of course it applies to many instances. I think it's because there is so much ';gray'; area to between right and wrong that we have so many problems in our world today. I don't think it's as ';gray'; between good and evil to most people.
yer, I think it would. because somebody thinks one thing and somebody else thinks another.
Relativity is in the eye of the beholder.
For me the phrase 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' is one cliche which is entirely true. I learned years ago that my impressions of how people looked would inevitably change as I came to know them better. I have friends whom I thought were quite homely at first but whose looks truly changed for me as they gained importance in my life. I have also known a couple of people who completely suckered me by their looks, who I thought must somehow be wonderful because they had such beautiful eyes, or style, or charm, but who then proved to be wretched people and as that lesson was brought home the beauty I had seen also seemed to fade away.

That makes for an interesting question here, at least for me, because I have been spending a lot of time thinking about perception and reality on both the literal and the literary front lately. When I was young I thought that the things which I knew to be true must be just as apparent to everyone else and that by disagreeing with me they were showing a diabolical willingness to lie and disseminate. I'm entirely serious, I really did see things in that black and white a manner. I thought there was one truth, and it was mine, and everyone else was not only wrong but deliberately wrong, and lying.

Imagine my horror in my early twenties when I suddenly started seeing things in very different lights than I had ever seen them before. My liberal upbringing slowly swung away from me until it had done a full 180 and suddenly I was identifying with a number of conservative dictates that had previously seemed fascist to me. Suddenly the wrong was right and, moron that I was, I defended this set just as ardently as I had done the first.

(So you all know, politically I have now settled into some sort of rational yet unaligned state, tending toward the liberal but picking and choosing as I please, and never satisfied by anyone, but, as ever, I digress.)

The thing is, I have been on both sides of several divisive issues through the years. There are parts of me that will never satisfy any group and so I have spent much time mulling over the relative vs. the absolute. I have the sort of mind that would like to believe in the absolute. Unfortunately I also have the sort of mind that likes to explore the grey areas and the more one does that the less possible the absolute becomes.

Let's say there is a man who completely and incontrovertibly believes that a certain small child is the devil, and that the only way to prevent the destruction of the universe is to heinously murder that child. Is it wrong for the person who catches him in that act and, just as incontrovertibly, believes the man is wrong, to kill the man to save the child? Each believes their view of the world correct. Each believes he is doing the right thing, for the greater good. That is, of course, an extreme example, and not what much of daily life involves.

It was hard for me to learn that really, really wrong people do not feel wrong. It was hard for me to come to terms with the fact that their reality was just as real to them as mine is to me. I do think that there are some true wrongs and some true rights and, better yet, I think most of us know what they are, in our hearts at least. Living up to our own ideals is a difficult but worthwhile aim and there are certain things to shoot for that can only be positive for ourselves and for the world at large.

Oddly though, one of those true right things is the understanding and acceptance of the fact that we are all different and that a person who encompasses many things we thought we despised may yet have much to teach us of those things and of others. That there is more to any person than the stereotype which it would be so simple and comforting to apply to them. Not one single aspect of an individual or a life or a philosophy is one dimensional and there is always more to understand than what immediately meets the eye.

I have learned to be open to the person inside the shell because I never know where my next friend is coming from. The same holds true for enemies. Meet each person and circumstance as they come to you and judge them on their own merits. Generalisations are the downfall of humanity and civilization. They breed prejudice, anger and separatism.

I am sure that absolutes exist, and, philosophically, I am capable of arguing for them. I just think that we meet fewer of them in our daily lives than would be convenient for many people to believe. I'm also pretty sure that, once again, I have strayed far from your original question.
    Interesting question.

I have to say, I think the saying is true; meaning that the one who has it or wants it sees the beauty; true and false. I think. Sorry, I guess that doesn't make much sense. I'll start again.

In certain cases, ideal cases, it's true; for example, a couple in love, they might see each other as beautiful, when other people would just write them off as ordinary; because they mean something special to you, you see them as special and beautiful. It works with other things, as well; like hobbies and pets. Like, reading; if you really loved reading you might see it as beautiful, metaphorically, but if you didn't you might see it as dull and boring. I guess you could say the same with sports and stuff - to me they seem dull; to others they are a way of life. I think what it's trying to say is that when you love someone, you see them as special, because they are special to you, even if they aren't particularly special mentally or physically - you see them as special because of what they are to you; not what they are, if you get what I mean. It kind of goes with the saying 'love is blind.'

And, to your other question, I think it does apply to those things - particularly justice; if someone was free, they might see it as beautiful, but someone who had never experienced it might see it as a lie. On the other hand, the one who had never experienced it might see it as beautiful because they had never had it, if you get what I mean; and the person who had it might take it for granted. Am I making any sense at all?

The whole thing has a lot to do with perspective; as to do with evil and good. Take Hitler for example; what he was doing, a heck of a lot of people saw it as evil; but he didn't - he saw it as good; he thought it was the right thing to do - he wasn't TRYING to be evil, he was just doing what he felt was right. But, at the same time, I still think that what he was doing was evil. At the same time, my personal classification of something is when something is done for one purpose and one purpose only; to create negative effects, when there is no reason for it other than to do bad things to a world which has never done bad things to you. Does this mean Hitler is evil? Depends on your perceive it.

Evil is a very fragile thing; there is no right or wrong classification of things. I can't remember the name, but there was some great mathematian I saw on a BBC documentary, who, in the end, ended up murdering fifty of his students - he wasn't doing it consciously, it could be argued, because he went mad - but, he still killed fifty people. It's easy for me to sit here and sympathise with this mathematican, but, if one of the people killed was my parent or brother or sister, I probably wouldn't think that.

To finish up, I don't think it could apply to any concept - because it isn't true in every aspect, like most philosophical ideas are - if beauty is in the beholder, then why are there woman killed by their husbands and babies killed by their parents? You would think that if they saw it as beauty, then they wouldn't do things like that - but I guess beauty doesn't mean that they wouldn't do such things, if you thought about it that way; it would just seem that it would make more sense if that concept wasn't true in this context.

So, I think it is a fragile concept; true in an ideal world, not always true in reality.

    Hope I helped.

How come caucasians are deemed perfect when it comes to beauty and endowment?

the chink eye which is the beauty of asian women is ridiculed, and this makes asian ladies go through surgeries to have more rounded eyes and better looking nose...african american ladies are ridiculed for having stubborn hair, making them wear wigs to compensate for the caucasian looks..asian(guys) are sterotyped as the race with the smallest penis and black skin tone is attributed to that of monkeys...not suprising, all these stereotypes were created by whites...so are whites the perfect race or they are just trying to emphasis that they are the superior race by making these seemingly crude stereotypesHow come caucasians are deemed perfect when it comes to beauty and endowment?
I know plenty of ';white'; guys that think I look good! So I guess this statistic is wrong :-)How come caucasians are deemed perfect when it comes to beauty and endowment?
I understand where your coming from. That's the same reason they made Jesus white in history books and in movies. They wanna seem superior and better than the rest of the world. They can lye to themselves, but not to us.

As for the endowment thing. Like I said, they can lye to themselves, but not to us!
ok, im caucasian, and i find it pretty offensive what some people on here are saying, firstly, white people do not want 2 put themselves on a pedastel by making out they are the superior race???...i know some people (no matter what race or colour) would, but it is not white people alone!!...if somebody likes to put other people down to raise themselves up they would do it anyway, no matter what colour they are, black or white!!secondly, no body ''makes'' or forces these women into having surgery or wearing a weave, the truth about it all is that, in reality humans desire what they cant have!...i know i myself would love 2 have the almond shaped brown eyes of an asian women, or the petite body of a spanish woman, or the fabulous skin tone of a black woman, but thats life.we get what we're given.
No you're got it all wrong son!!

    We're all beautifull!!!
I love asian eyes, curly hair and tanned skin and so do many other white's. Some people just hate anything that's different from them.
you know what .. i dunno but you know how it is .. some people just get off on making other people feel bad .. there is no perfect race if there was then there would be no individuality everyone would be look and act the same .. wouldnt that just be boring ? .. every body is different for a reason ..
lets go back to your caption question.. the answer cause caucasians are the most beautiful s girls and guyin the world.. http://www.foreign-love.com/
It's called the ';colonial mentality'; that most Asians have. Most of the countries in Asia have been colonized by Caucasian nationalities for centuries, you see. Colonized Asians were taught to idolize and revere the Caucasian beauty as their colonizers did so. Having pure Asian features meant being part of the low classes in society. In our country, sadly, white-skinned people (mestiza) are preferred over brown-skinned people (morena), especially for women.
its western culture and we live in a society where whites have all the power so we are influenced by their idea of beauty. its a white mans world world we jus live in it

Have you every been jealous of yourself because of your beauty?

Please give me more feedbacks. I need it for my essay. Thanks. The disney version of Beauty and the Beast appropriate for children and adults to watch? Agree or Disagree? Wh?
Yes, it is as appropriate as any of the other disney films. When I was a kid I never noticed any of the slightly innapropriate things in disney films (like the little mermaid, ariel turns to a human and doesnt have any pants, i never even noticed as a kid, you dont notice till youre a pervy teen)The disney version of Beauty and the Beast appropriate for children and adults to watch? Agree or Disagree? Wh?
no way!!! it scared the heck outta me!!! i had nightmares!!! omg it was so scary when the girl was looking at the vase with the flower petals and then all of a sudden BOOM!! that big old thing pops out of nowhere!!!

-and also when she enters his room and it had scary music

-and when he transformed that was just plan creepy

no i dont think it is appropiate!!
Hmm. It's a beautiful movie about love despite race... or perhaps it's about bestiality.

Either way, it's fine. The language is mild, the story beautiful, and the sexual nature of the movie is well hidden from small minds.

  • What is ''but keep your chin up, there's beauty in the breakdown'' from?

What is it? Or what's it from!?

I've seen it on a few different Bebo backgrounds and on people's taglines and stuff but what's it from? Or is it just like another one of those sayings? What is ''but keep your chin up, there's beauty in the breakdown'' from?
    It's from Venus.

A question about beauty in our society?

During the late medieval through to pre-industrial era through art and stories inner qualities like kindness, goodness, faith, loyalty, etc. where portrayed through physical beauty and good looks. Hence the hero or heroine of a story was said to be handsome or beautiful, more so than normal.

Our present day society is based on foundations from this era and we have brought many of its ideas and ideals with us from then into our modern day. However as with many long held traditions and customs the meaning of can be lost over time, people just going through the motions and not understanding why.

So my question is, can this artistic cheat explain our society鈥檚 current pre-occupation with physical beauty and/or attractiveness? Trying to find the most beautiful but not understanding that that does not guarantee 'inner beauty' as it were?

    AND

If so then what does that say for our society and its views on beauty and attraction? What would be a better way to approach the subject?

    Please explain your answers.

    I thank you in advance.

(P.S. Please do not discuss evolutionary science, survival of the fittest, etc. that is not the point of the question.)A question about beauty in our society?
Finally someone who thinks! The concept of ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder'; has become irrelevant in our culture since the beholder has been changed because commercialization has warped our conception of what beauty is in an ideal sense and what is reality. The very images we see in advertising for the most part use the most attractive models to role' play for the cameras, but in fact the average population doesn't look like or could even be like the stereotypes forced on us constantly. The physical rather than the ethical attributes of humanity are constantly force-fed us to create an illusion of comfort and well being while trying to convince us that buying any particular product will somehow bring the average person up to the level of the ideal. In the process, feelings and therefore ethical standards are diminished. The end result is the commercial world becomes reality, and the ugliness becomes unnatural. To give you a classic example, not long ago Johnson %26amp; Johnson ran an ad showing a father who had a container of salsa in a living room done totally in white. The phone rings. His wife is on the other end. His child knocks the container to the floor. She is concerned about her clean living room. He says, in a blatent lie, ';Not we're not in the living room, we're not making a mess';. Fortunately the container stayed shut. The disclaimer at the end was, ';Johnson and Johnson, a family company';, Great message for a family company to send. It's OK to lie? Point is, the beholder has been changed so much that the only thing seen is what can be seen and with the advent of instant gratification, the beholder no longer wants to take the time or even knows or cares about what can't be seen let alone what could or should be felt like those of the medeval period when life was reality.A question about beauty in our society?
Looking back at the art works of the older era, the beautiful were quite the rounded voluptuous types or men with large physiques, and chiseled features.

(these images today might not be what most would call beautiful - although i still do).

If i said a beautiful woman came to my door today, she had long black hair and a flowing dress that blew in the breeze.

It wouldn't mean to me that she was (( model status)).

Just that she had looked lovely, or i felt she was lovely.

As in aura / connection / feeling / vibe with the person.

You would really have to take into account what the person hearing this said story would visualize, there own ideas as to the beauty or there own ideas of what this person could look like.

So i think much like the old (Chinese whispers) the story gets exaggerated, people put in there own bits, so instead of a lovely girl came to my door, it would turn out to be the fairest girl in the land.

We have continued to believe this. and this is where we society forgets, Who we are counts more - than what we look like.
We love pretty girl because she has the quality to be fit and healthy. What if we accept ugliness? Our race will degenerate! Ugly women does not deserve a husband.

Every reality is subject to change, decay... But there is nothing bad about the instinct which distinguish between prettiness and ugliness. The instinct is not to be rejected, virtue and reason should be rejected if they are in conflict with the instinct. For exemple, your instinct tells you to go resting; your reason tells you to continue working - or inversely - you should listen to the instinct.

Prettiness is a compounded and constructed state, it's meaningless. Your instinct tells you to love the pretty, don't watch the ugly, so even such command is meaningless (not supported by popular prejudices), you should follow. FOR HAPPINESS!

As conventially regarded, you should not expect a pretty wife if you are ugly. That's very good for the ugly man to be unconfident in approaching girls - this instinct (unconfidence) keeps the human race beautiful.

The pretty is part of the causal continuum of good blood generation.
well i am not a folk-lorist there friend but i think you would find that most fairy tale writers exported their own beautiful meanings (Inner beauty) into the story lines while constructing images which were extra-ordinary.

in present day society not that much has changed except ... well.... the three stooges have a substantial income and cinderella won't eat pumpkins.

i suppose that fairy tellers of old were just bored country folk with nothing better to do after chopping a wood pile or scrubbing the floor.

gosh.....come to think of it....they were beautiful people.

    inside and outside.
that is just human nature.....pretty is pretty and ugly is ugly......no not a good way to look at it......just the way it is.......for real, who looks at inner beauty----the outer counts---and if , by chance, you find a person with both then grab ahold tight and be thankful....

What is real beauty? The models we see on TV, are they natural or is it just make-up?

a lot of those people on TV are UGLY without make up!!

Like, Kim Kardashian...she is a perfect example! What is real beauty? The models we see on TV, are they natural or is it just make-up?
Real beauty is accepting yourself for who you are and how you are. A person who is ugly on the inside cannot be helped by a pretty exterior. The models we see on tv. Some are natural but a lot of the time it's make up. Pictures are often air brushed. Don't compare yourself to everyone else. Real beauty comes from the inside. =)What is real beauty? The models we see on TV, are they natural or is it just make-up?
real beauty is being comfortable with the person you are inside and in your own make up free skin

the models on tv are all people who are trying to be beautiful so go through hours of make up and training and styling to look how they do

before anyone thinks theyre no way near as beautiful as celebrities are take a look at this

    http://seehere.blogspot.com/2006/08/cele鈥?/a>
I think that all models are beautiful...in their own way, just as people are..

They are just airbrushed and have so much make-up on,it's ridiculous...You have girls trying to live up to an image that doesen't even exsist..All those women are attractive, like i said..but they don't look like the airbrushed ';perfect';pictures we all see.

    They are human.

everyone has a different idea of what beautiful is.
    real beauty...hmmmmm.

tv and magazines is airbrush and makeup.

but everybody around me tell me im perdyful.

:/ and i wear no makeup watsoever.

and everybody thinks im gunna become some great model,

because i walk straight and look pretty.

its really the true face that should be perdyful.
obviously, you haven't seen the magazines of these so called ';beauties'; without their makeup....i think real beauties are far and few between....remember, that stress, heridity...etc, etc all play a part and unless you have flawless porcelin skin and gorgeous eyes, it isn't happening...at least not without some makeup
real beauty is not an anorexic made-up 16 year old who chain smokes- its someone who's confident and nice and pretty in her own right. someone beautiful hasn't had so much plastic surgery she feels like a rock- but she doesn't necessarily wear no make up. just what she does in life and how she goes about things and her attitude to life makes her beautiful.
Beauty is all natural . Models on tv so not natural...
all those models pretty because of makeup ...for many of them, when they without make up, their skin too bright..sometimes look like ghost..this info i got from a model's friend and i saw before. they look good after make up...

real beauty is natural..but some people would say tha is out-dated instead!!!

Who is more beauty in this world men or women?

who is the beauty the male sex or the female sex?Who is more beauty in this world men or women?
Well I find if you take one of each, A male and a female, they can then together make beautiful things.Who is more beauty in this world men or women?
In nature, if you observe the male species is definitely more good looking than the female species. ex. Lion, Bull, ****, etc. are definitely more majestic and look better than the female of the species. But as men, men would definitely vote for women.
it depends on our attitude and personality.it will be hard to answer such a question.because a gender will feel attracted to the opposite and they will feel more beauty in them.yeah got the answer:

HUMANS WITH GOOD MIND WILL BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EVEN THEY ARE OF ANY GENDER........
Men. Most women put alot of make-up to look bearable. Most r artificially enhanced. Most women are fake. Fake eye colour. Fake hair colour. Fake skin colour. Fake boobs. Fake lips.
    MEN easily

Beautiful women are like rotten apples. Their arrogant, judgemental, and snobby personalities offset their looks. Read enough stuck up profiles on Adult Matchmaker and you'll agree with me.
Beautiful is the word for women. women is beautiful but man is handsome.
that depends on the preference by the person who is enchanted by the opposite sex or same sex these days.
I think women are beautiful and men's are bold enough to handle this beauty.
It differs from person to person One prfers rose, the other Tulip one more Lotus One to daffodils etc.

POST SCRIPT Do you mean men or women or their sex?
    definitely the female sex.

Who else thinks beauty pageants for little girls are not cool?

    very disturbing

and it takes alot to disturb meWho else thinks beauty pageants for little girls are not cool?
Spray-tanning, chest-stuffing and brain-washing young girls is not healthy nor necessary. It's actually rediculous when you think about it...forcing little kids to be show-off adults. We don't need any more plastics. But if they are truly good girls that want to compete and don't do it to be fresh or conceited, then I guess it's alright.Who else thinks beauty pageants for little girls are not cool?
I think they are terrible. They put the little girl into so much pressure.

Then, too, I think they fuel pedophiles who are already demented and can't defferentiate between children and adults.

Dressing little girls up like adults, all made-up and all is messed up!
They where okay back in the day. I used to compete and I am proud to say I won every one lol when I was 3. But now they are so ridiculous! The girls have a Pound of make-up and look 25. That's torture!
Def. me. It gives them the wrong idea about life, that you have to be beautiful, and the losers will consider themselves ugly and have a bad self esteem.
I think beauty pagents for ANYBODY isn't cool

they are just filled with a bunch of superficial airheads that think they are the hottest thing on the earth

and all they care about is world peace, which won't happen

    they make me so mad.
I think beauty pageants are not cool. Full stop. But especially not cool for little girls because they aren't old enough to understand what they are doing. 16+ only.
i do, little girls shouldn't worry about diets, make up, high heels they should enjoy their childhood, run around and cause mischief
    ME

    1. Its a pedophile dream land

    2. Installs a self esteem based on shallow outer qualities

    3. Many become narcissistic

    4. Many mothers are living vicariously through their kids
I don't like them but it is up to the child and the parents. Some do it because they want to be in show business.
meeeee... beauty pagants r stupid becuz everyone is pretty in their own wayy and they eccpessialy shouldnt be telling little girls they rnt pretty ...
They teach girls to be competitive with each other in looks. Not good at ALL.

Beauty pageants for little girls+Bratz=a big no-no

This leads to slut-like behaviour in the teenage years.

    I think they are horrible
I think so. These kids are like becoming little dolls! Not in a good way either, they have no choice and it's so harsh to be a little girl and hear someone say you're not good enough!!!

    IT'S NOT COOL!

yo any beauty pagent is stupid cause it makes it look that all girls are girly like that. i hate it.
    They're sick!

the test whereby it if ur face is the most perfect n most pleasing to the eye? What is that beauty test where they measure different points on your face to tell how your face measures up?
Never heard of it, but your features need not measure up. What works for you or I probably are very different. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you take care of yourself, you probably look good, because it means you care and love yourself. Not in a conceited way but a healthy balanced way. The most pretty people are both spiritually and bodily in tune.

In other words, take care of your skin.

    Don't overwash your hair.

Well..unlike everyone else, I'm actually going to try to give you a real answer...

I get a facial every month, spray tan twice a month, and exercise frequently, as well.

(wow...I must have just felt like writing haha...hope that helps)
sleep!!!!! thats why it's called beauty sleep
i don't know. i think it's God given. i wake up like this every morning.
First, get enough sleep and drink water. Try to exercise about 2-3 times a week and eat healthy. If you are healthy that is more important than being beautiful. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
well i don't considor myself beautiful, but i make sure to put lotion or something on my face before i go to bed. my skin looks so soft and i don't look my age.
I stopped tanning about 25 years ago, when I heard how damaging it is to the skin. I have great skin (maybe because of that). Very few wrinkles, and I'm in my late 40s. People think I'm 10 or more years younger.

Also, I don't overwash my face. Once in the morning is sometimes all I do. I try to wash it again before bed, that doesn't always happen.

I have an excellent hair dresser. She has found a way to get rid of my gray, make me a blonde with highlights that occur from the gray being colored and not by an extra process.

I eat loads of fruits and veggies. Less meat. I get enough rest most of the time, and exercise by hiking and walking my dog.

I mostly ignore minor annoyances. Life's too short. I try to see the humor in every situation. If there is none, then I go with whatever feeling is required.

I don't compete. I see no need for it. I do my best, enjoy my job, family life and the challenges of both.

I don't seek perfection, but I do strive for understanding.
Over the counter acid peels, lots of water, walking, retin a fights wrinkles and blackheads, wash your face really well and moisturise, lipgloss, lavender eyeliner with black eyeliner takes practice looks pretty.smile at every one.

They are actually supposed to be lucky.I notice that I have a lot of those black dots on my face known as beauty marks?
Well if they are beauty marks, then they are perfectly normal to have. Though I suppose the more technical term is moles.

However, you might want to check with your doctor to make sure they aren't cancerous which would be more likely if you spend a lot of time in the sun.
They're moles, which are fine usually, but you should see a dermatologist as having a lot is unusual and they can become cancerous. Make sure to wear sunscreen every day to prevent sun damage.
they could aslo be black heads.
yea they are !! it makes u look distinguished!!

Confidence, luck, beauty etc.. is it all just an illusion?

People get discouraged by other people who seem much more confident, rich, lucky and better looking. But how do people overcome this? There are so many other people in the world who are successful, famous and happier than they are.

So many people waste their lives on things that don't matter like on the way they look or what friends to hang around with.

So what should you really focus on in life?Confidence, luck, beauty etc.. is it all just an illusion?
I asked the same question when I was eighteen. Now at fifty I am still searching for answers, only now I have eliminated many of the common suggestions like those you mention-good looks, money, etc.

What should you focus on - your question shows that you have begun this special journey to which I have not yet found an end. But what a journey.

All I can suggest to start is to focus on being a decent human being, that is don't hurt people. If you do try to put it right.

Don't be fooled into accepting the common view on anything without checking it out for yourself.

But always show tolerance for the views of others except where they try to harm you.

Get to know yourself. Sounds silly but social inhibitions will have forced you to submerge your darker side. Get to know both your good and bad points. This does not mean that you act on your darker side just that you accept that it is part of you.

If you believe in God believe in him. Don't be put off by people like me who don't. Remember respect my views but follow your own.

I wish you a good journey.

Confidence, luck, beauty etc.. is it all just an illusion?
    cailinmo answer was great.

i think he makes perfect sense, but i think if you want to be happy you are caught in chasing an illusion, just like those who worry about who they are, luck, beauty, are chasing illusions too. the best way to feel happy, (not being happy because in reality nobody is happy) is being able to rightly choose most of your actions. every action provokes a reaction so before doing something you must be wise enough to figure out what the reaction will be. if you think the result of your action will please you, do it. if not, think about another action...one that will make you feel happy about the reaction.

why in every ******* answer do people start to talk about God.

    For **** sake stop ******* preaching ****.

what would you say if i told you i had an invisible friend beside me called jonny? you'd same im a ******* looney.

    gods the same ******* thing

Do you know what mate, live for the moment, you do what you want to do. Don't think to much about things because then it gets boring. Be considerate but listen to your desires and dont suppress them. What is the point in living if you cant do what you want!
Being the best person you can possibly be without hurting others. If you have children they become the focus as well. And don't forget God!!
hmmm.... id say theyre blessings...that some people are led astray by... not trying to preech i promis...we're ll beautiful in our own way,

and to be happy we jus gotta be grateful for wat we got...not what we havnt thers no point hey...
    it is a total delusion

monkey mind always grasping for more

concentrate on the Here and Now
    just being happy.
I wouldn't say we are chasing illusions. We are chasing concepts. It's all a matter of prioritising which concept is most valuable to you.

If you want to kill people, there is nothing that says you can't in the grand scheme of things. Good and Evil are man made concepts to keep societies from breaking down. If one society thinks they are better than an another, killing is justified by War so again it comes down to priorities. Some people believe killing is a priority in order to protect ones society. As much as I don't agree, this just means my priority system is different to theirs. It doesn't mean they are bad or wrong and it does not make me right or good. Only arrogant people would make such judgements and there seems to plenty of those on here.

Nobody can say what the best way to live is as none of us are divine beings. This is why I don't agree with authorititive religion or law. But if you decide that you want to belong to a certain group, you will be willing to abide by it's rules as it suits your agenda. If you want to further yourself spiritually, you may want to become religious. It's up to you. I can't tell you what is valuable to you. I'm not that self-righteous. Of course I would have opinions but who doesn't?

If you want to do what you want to do, that will require confidence as you must believe in yourself as self-doubt will quickly stop you in your tracks.

If you want to be popular, you must be able show the characteristics that the group you are trying to win over find valuable.

If you want to be financially rich, you must be lucky, talented, sexy (sad but true) or industrious.

If you want to be an assassin, you must be amoral, and an owner of 20/20 vision I'd imagine.

If you want to be a conceptual artist, you will need lots of acid and a pretentious attitude... (oohh controversial)

None of these are bad or good options. They may be valuable or invaluable depending on your own agenda.

Make a choice and if it makes you happy (assuming this is your goal in life), keep doing it. If it makes you unhappy, you've made the wrong choice and it's back to the drawing board. Don't let anyone make the choices for you as that is when you turn into a robot and there are far too many of those around.

I may of course be completely wrong here and you should just do what you're told by your parents, as apparently, ';they know what's best';. Hehe.
