Why does society believe that blondes with blue eyes are the ideal beauty, but most Miss Universe finalists?

There was a time when European and American models were considered the epitomy of beauty. The primary reason for this was that Europe and America set the beauty standard by virtue of having the leading economies in the world, and hence, the leading influence on fashion. As a result, blondes were thought to have the most attractive qualities.





Today, fashion is influenced much more strongly, both in Europe and the U.S., by immigration. African, Latina and Asian models have become much more visible. This has influenced popular culture and our perception of beauty.





Therefore, the standard of beauty has shifted over time.Why does society believe that blondes with blue eyes are the ideal beauty, but most Miss Universe finalists?
I think as a society we need to do away with all this superficial phony beauty contest etc. its so ridiculous and insignificant to society as a whole. How could any race take pride in being flavor of the year anyway, ...its about gaining ratings for latinos,asians and blacks because were less of the viewers,so to build more ratings and prosperity to these organizations that exploit women in the first place thats why were wining NOW.
Your right. My mom was talking about that. People think that blonde and blue eyes is BEAUTY. That's what people feel like they are supposed to think in America. It's like we've been brain-washed into thinking that the blonde and blue eyes image is superior to other looks. I personally don't think that blonde hair and blue eyes is gorgeous (im not saying that all of you out there with blonde hair and blue eyes is UGLY).
Blonde is ideal? Well, I don't know about that, but I can say that I find women from all races pretty. I will admit that I find a higher percentage of women who are blonde, as better, but that's not always true.





I think it's truly a preference thing. My friend like brunettes better. You can't really catagorize.
If so many Latinas or Asian women win then wouldn't that be saying that blonds with blue eyes are not the ideal beauty? I'd like to see a few black girls win actually. It's about time, and notice that most of the contestants for miss universe/miss world are NOT blond with blue eyes.
How about more Black Miss Universe finalists? It's a superficial contest which doesn't matter very much.
Because the blonde hair blue eyed thing is America's idealogy...Other nations tend to think diffrently.
Well society must not believe that anymore if the winners are Asian and Latinas.
Blondes with blue eyes was like that in the past. These days, most people can see the beauty in everyone.
Maybe it was because of the Barbie doll, but people have changed and really like brunettes and redheads now!
