Every pageant system is different. Some do not have a talent portion, some do but it is not required for your overall score. Some have a talent event that you can use towards your overall score in place of another score (whichever score is highest). Some have talent as a completely separate title, meaning your performance in the pageant will earn you one title, while your performance in talent will earn you a different title.

There are natural pageants, full glitz, semi-glitz, and some pageants that offer contestants the choice of glitz or natural.
